TRAVEL THEME:  LETTERS

Alisa at Where’s my backpack has a travel photo challenge, and as this appears to be my new hobby (challenges), I thought I’d jump into this one.

When I first saw the theme, I thought of letters.  You know, snail mail letters, like this one I received from one of the busiest blogger/vloggers I know!  My friend Paula Acton in the UK.  She even wax sealed it for me like the blogging Queen she is!

But on seeing the entries, I realize most are of letters.

Words.  Letters.  You know, like the alphabet.

And boy, do I have those!!!

So many in face, I think I’ll collage them to save space and you from becoming insanely bored!  🙂

1.)  The world of words being a New England  (and the Bal’more O’s of course) sports fan

sports

2.)  The words of the places I love to eat, drink, and be mary (oops) merry

places

3.)  Advertising is all about letters making words that drive us to WANT, NEED, CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT!  And I saw a story in this group…can you?  (Not to worry…all in fun.  I LOVE ooze and wine!)

4.)  Famous words that drew me to interesting places while in London

5.)  And lastly (I know what you’re thinking…phew right?)  But, lastly some local favs

These letters may not be the same as writing or receiving a letter…but as letters go…these’ll do nicely!

Cheers  🙂

On The Road Again

It’s official…we’re on the road again.

Tradin’ in

‘Ya can’t get theyah from heeyah’

for

‘Ya’ll come back now, y’hear?’

The Green Mountains of Vermont, the land of my birth…to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.

Before the snow flies and on the wings of the snow birds, we’ll be gone.

Naturally, this meant another foray into the wild green yonder of this place I love, to capture as much of her as I can before heading out.

A week from now we’ll be ‘down there’, looking for a home.

If we are successful, in 3 weeks time, I’ll be an Old Dame in The Old Dominion and the other half will be, ummm, well?

Old

I invite you to share my last Vermont Drive By of the Season and look forward to sharing my new home with you

(as soon as I find one)

687 Miles to Sloppy Kisses…

It’s been over a year and a half since I’ve seen my grandson Alex, who turned 3 in April.
I can think of nothing I’d rather do than share the next few days with you as we get reacquainted and fall in love all over again…

The Journey:

flag collage 1

The first 200 miles
Old Glory flies high and
Gas prices do too
140 miles more before we leave the high cost of living in the Northeast behind…

post collage 3

The layover at halfway
Storm on the horizon
Unwanted voyeurs
One who is thankful for the break.
345 miles to go for sloppy kisses…

Water, water, everywhere...and not a drop to drink! Oh...and a windmill.

Water, water, everywhere…and not a drop to drink!
Oh…and a windmill, of course.
300 miles more to giant hugs from little arms

Tooling down the Blue Ridge Parkway headed for the home stretch
Silos and Barns growing out of the Corn
and oh….
Crackin’ the Barrel on every corner!
200 miles and we pop the top and pull the cork.

Next thing you know they’re playing ball
Basketball, football, soccer and all
Running, shooting, fetching, “no fair!”
I’m goin’ swimming…hop in gram, we’ll share.

So ends the first day…worth the trip and worth the  heat.

Stay tuned for the next installment…getting down on the trampoline then popsicle parties and bubble magic.
